Are you thinking of eloping just the two of you, but you know your family and friends are going to be upset? Their response is to be expected. They love you and want to be part of your big day! But you are also allowed to want to share this intimate moment in a private setting. So here are 3 easy ways for how to elope without upsetting your family.
Let them in on the planning process.
Often they will be happy being part of your day in any way they can. Let them in on the planning process by looking at vendors together, or running location ideas by them. You can also let them do more traditional things, like throw a bridal party to celebrate you.
Assure them they will be able to relive the day though photo/video.
Photo and video is the best thing next to being there in person. Explain that there will be plenty of documentation so they can see what the ceremony was like, and to see how happy you are. Knowing that this is how families see your big day is actually one of my favorite things about being an elopement photographer!
Plan a post elopement celebration
Who doesn’t like the idea of getting dressed up again and celebrating with a low stress reception? This is also a great way to gather everyone to pop champagne and see your elopement photos/videos for the first time!
