One of my favorite things about Dana Point is that you can always find a secluded spot at the beach. That was especially important for Omer as he was planning his proposal. He knew his girlfriend Meagan would love a romantic proposal at the beach. Huge marquee letters and an over the top set up isn’t their style (it’s not mine either, sorry!) so he wanted to keep it simple with a dash of something extra. That’s where I came in to help plan their Dana Point engagement! We worked together to come up with the perfect plan and location, and I was able to set up something that Meagan loved.
Dana Point Engagement | The Plan + Photos
Meagan had been gushing over Benny Blanco’s picnic blanket proposal to Selena Gomez. She loved how it was simple yet thoughtful. Omer had been taking notes and wanted to do something similar – we love to see it! The plan was to take Meagan to dinner at the Monarch Bay Beach Club, located on the quieter side of Salt Creek. Meanwhile, I set up the area and prepared for their arrival. Omer suggested a sunset beach walk, leading her to a blanket with rose petals. When Meagan saw the set up, she was so excited! After she said “yes,” she told me the whole experience felt like a dream. She loved how thoughtful it was and couldn’t believe he managed to surprise her. We spent the rest of the time taking engagement photos. It was such a fun evening with a stunning sunset!
Planning your proposal
Omer’s Dana Point engagement proposal was a great example of planning the perfect “yes” moment. It’s tempting to feel like you have be over the top with how you ask, but it’s important to keep it feeling genuine. If you want to add something extra to the moment, here’s my advice: Incorporating things that are significant to your relationship will be more meaningful than choosing something from a list of pre-made options. That could be as simple as picking a location you both love to frequent, recreating a first date with pizza on the beach, or simply having their favorite flowers waiting for them.
