The Best Time to Elope in Laguna Beach
The best time to elope in Laguna Beach depends on the experience you’re looking for, but generally, spring (March–May) and fall (September–November) offer the perfect balance of beautiful weather and fewer crowds. During these months, you’ll enjoy mild temperatures, stunning sunsets, and less crowds compared to the busy summer season. If you’re dreaming of a golden-hour ceremony with warm, glowing light, aim for a sunset elopement in late summer or early fall when the skies are often at their most vibrant. Although occasional rain or foggy skies is possible in the winter, it can still be magical and you can expect the beaches to be almost empty.
No matter when you choose to elope, planning for a weekday ceremony will help you avoid the crowds and create a more intimate experience.
Making it Official: Marriage License & Permits in Laguna Beach
To make it official, you’ll need to obtain a California marriage license, which can be done at any county clerk’s office in the state. The closest option is the Orange County Clerk-Recorder’s office, where you can apply in person or start the process online here. No waiting period is required, and the license is valid for 90 days. An officiant needs to sign the license, and you may need a witness depending on which license you get. If you want to keep things very low-key, I’m a licensed officiant and I’m happy to sign for you!
If you’re planning to exchange vows on a public beach or park, keep in mind that some locations require a special event permit from the city. Popular spots may have restrictions, but don’t worry, I can help you through this process.
