This session started out just like any other couples shoot… or at least that’s what Michaela thought! Jackson gifted her a “sunset session” for her birthday because she had been wanting photos of the two of them together. She showed up thinking it was just going to be a fun evening in front of the camera, soaking up golden hour at the beach. But what she didn’t know was that I’m an OC proposal photographer, and Jackson and I had the perfect plan in place!
Normally, my proposal sessions come with a top-secret, undercover mission where I’m hiding out and waiting for the big moment (because some partners are just too good at catching on). But every once in a while, a client and I plan it as a “regular” session, perfect for partners who are totally unsuspecting. This way, everyone is dressed and ready for photos and in the right spot.
A few minutes into their session, Jackson pulled Michaela close and got down on one knee. Her reaction was pure surprise, exactly what he had hoped for! The rest of the evening unfolded into a dreamy engagement session, with one of the most stunning sunsets Laguna Beach has shown off in a while.
It was the perfect mix of planning, surprise, and genuine joy. It’s the kind of evening that makes me love being an OC proposal photographer even more!
